About Kamenets

Kamenets is located in Brest Region of Belarus, near what is current City of Brest, Belarus. The population in 2002 was estimated at 6000 to 9000. In 1925 there was estimated to be a population of 4000, 80% Jewish. The name derives from the word kameny — stony.

Name variants: Kamieniec Litewski, Kmenets-Litovskiy, Kamenets-Litovsk, Kamenets-Litevski, Kamenets-Litevske, Kamenets-Litovskiy, Kamyanyets

Kamenets is about 40 km (25 mi) north-east of Brest
